An artist can never really separate work from the rest of life. Michael Schmidt's natural curiosity and many interests keep him constantly inspired. He usually finds himself in the position of having too many ideas and not enough hours in the day to pursue them.
Along with his artistic endeavors, Michael is found spending time with his family, traveling, listening to music a little too loudly in his studio and occasionally squeezing in enough time to do some reading. Michael works out of his newly completed backyard studio in Saint Paul as well as his shared studio space in the
Northrup King Building in Minneapolis.
The last year has been a busy one for Michael as he has been busy with art crawls, art fairs, studio events, gallery shows and many private commissions. Highlights have included solo shows at
Salongeorge,
The Independent, as well as being awarded "Best of Show" at
Highlandfest Art Fair. Michael is honored to have donated paintings this year to various causes. Michael's work was sold to benefit the
Northeast Minneapolis Artists Association at Art-A-Whirl. A painting was donated for the
Art Perchance event to raise money for The Minneapolis Institute of Art. Several works were included in the
Plymouth Church Neighborhood Foundation's "Stop Homelessness" Art Sale.
